The Dog Robot Go2 of UniLee made its debut in the theater outside Broadway, and we obtained an exclusive look behind the scenes and interviews with the distribution and the crew doing it.

The play is a single act entitled The Robot, The Spy and the Love of AI. The idea was born when the playwright John Arthur Long stumbled on a video of the Go2 Pro robot from Uni -à Youtube. He bought himself a robot and the story grew up from there. “I don’t think there has never been a real robot live on stage,” said Long.

The robot is expressed live by David Rey, who communicates via a speaker attached to the back of the robot, and its movements are manipulated live by Dariel Garcia, using an application and a controller.
“I have an approximately 90%control,” explains Garcia. “A large part of the jump and the certain movement of the arm that it is, these are preprogrammed, but most of the time, it is only me, I push the dog.”
To maneuver the robot live, Dariel Garcia uses a controller that displays a power supply to the on -board camera on the robot.
The director of the play, Kirk Gostkowski, who is also artistic director of the Chain Theater, says that he briefly planned to record the lines of the robot in advance, but quickly realized that doing the live was the best choice . “There is a lot of comedy in there,” he said. “If there are laughter, the actor will have to take a break. The actor knows how to manage the public in a different way. It is the joy of the theater live.”
