Manchester United’s head coach Ruben Amorim insists that he is not “worried” to lose his job, despite an extremely difficult first month of first months in the Hotseat.
Amorim was recruited in November to replace the dismissal of Erik Ten Hag, United trigger a break clause in his contract with Sporting CP to bring the Portuguese boss to England immediately.
The 40 -year -old man was considered one of the most brilliant management prospects in Europe in recent seasons, after having ended the long drought of the title of Primeira Liga in Sporting in 2020/21, a Again won in 2023/24 and left the club on the way after another after a fellow start until 2024/25 before its release.
But Amorim brought his own style of play to United, completely different from what Ten Hag’s Squad was used to and is determined to implement his own ideas rather than compromise.
The boss pushed the idea of short-term pain for a long-term gain, not having had a summer transfer window or pre-season with which the team molded to his philosophy. The problem, however, is that the results were poor, with Sunday’s defeat against Tottenham Hotspur a ninth in 21 games. It was also only four victories in 14 Premier League outings, losing five championship games in December only.
“I am not worried. I understand our fans, what the media think of it. I hate to lose, this feeling is the worst. The rest I don’t think. I understand my situation, my work, I am confident in My work and I just want to win matches, “said Amorim after the shock of the Spurs.
“The place in the table is my concern, I am not worried about me,” he added, referring to United 15th in the current classification. The club has not finished so low since the relegation of the elite in 1974, with their lower final since 13th place in the 1989/90 campaign.
“I have a lot of problems, my work is so hard here. But I stick to my beliefs. We just need to face it and not run away, it’s my feeling. Today hurts me, it is a difficult pain to lose as many games. “”
The next step for United is a meeting with former manager David Moyes, visiting Everton on Saturday. Amorim’s first victory in English football came against the Toffees in early December, a 4-0 victory over a team from Everton and then managed by Sean Dyche.
