Frank Darabont took on a significant risk when he transformed the news of Stephen King, the mist, in film. With a stacked cast led by Thomas Jane, the story is quite simple: a small town folk group is trapped in a store because a mist of another world triggers unimaginable horrors outside. Soon, factions are formed and – while exterior terror remains mainly invisible – fear causes chaos among the survivors while they are fighting to give meaning to the threat and the other. The end of Darabont is a heartbreaking gap in the story of King and, indeed, which means that this pop film.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard directed the suite of Jurassic Park 2015, which launched a new franchise centered on the dinosaurs which has continued to prosper in the last decade.
