n
Today is the most hope and optimism day of the year.
n
It’s great!
n
n
Whatever the objectives or resolutions you have set for, I am excited for you!
n
We all try to improve, and even if things have not worked as we wanted in the past, we hope this time will be different.
n
The musician Nick Cave describes hope as “optimism with a broken heart”, and I think it’s beautifully precise. We all try to be different when the change is so difficult.
n
If you try to create a new training habit or change the number on a scale this year, I greet you. Setting a modification objective is very commendable.
n
But to give us the best chance of achieving our goal, we must combine the objective with self-reflection and self-awareness.
n
Here are two questions to ask you at the beginning of 2025…
n
Question 1: What is different this time?
n
I’m proud of you to start again.
n
But what is different in this attempt?
n
If you do what you have always done, you will get what you still have.
n
The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
n
If you choose the same goal or the same strategy you have tried (without success) in the past, the end result will be the same: another lost year of “why can’t I gather my act?”
n
So be deliberate on what is different this time!
n
Do not just “follow the Xyz diet” or “abandon all sugar forever” or “train again for a marathon”, especially if you have already tried these things and you cannot stay with them.
n
Something should be different this time:
n
- n
- Make fewer changes.
- Choose a goal and focus on it.
- Choose another drive routine.
- Choose a different nutrition change or change.
- Choose a different moment of the day to train.
- Recruit a friend to join you so that you don’t do it alone.
- Make your new desired behavior beneficial or necessary.

n
Prove that you have learned something from your past attempts. Do not let the past failures be in vain – they have shown you what does not work for you.
n
Try something different this time!
n
Question 2: What are you afraid of?
n
You are full of momentum right now, and it’s great.
n
But in three weeks, life will happen, and something is wrong.
n
What was your trend when this happens in the past?
n
We ask each NF coaching customer Before you start, “what are you the most nervous?”
n
This answer is something they are aware of following their past attempts:
n
Are you going to take care of yourself and decide “to take a break until things slow down?” Great! Now you know when this little voice in your head says this, you can prepare for it, plan to do something differently and decide that you don’t do it to have To listen to this voice in your head.
n
Are you going to have a bad day and get completely withdrawing from rails? Great! Now you know that when you have a bad day, you can forgive yourself, not look back in anger or guilt, and get back on the right track.
n
Are you going to give up even if you really want to pass? Great! It happens to all of us when motivation decreases after a few weeks. Consider Adding a Ulysses pact Protect yourself against your weaknesses or make a bet with a friend to keep you responsible.
n
NF coach Matt Myers was recently on the Mental golf podcast with Josh Nichols – and at the brand 24:30 of the episode, Matt underlined something to Josh who surprised him:
n
“You told me before I started:” I know I’m going to get out of the doors hard, but about 3 weeks, I’m going to exhaust myself and disappear. “
n
And I said: “Thank you for letting me know”, and I had all these alarms and alerts ready to register with you several times around the 21 -day brand! »»
n
Josh had self -awareness to find out where he was rushing in the future, he and the coach Matt predicted for this and were recovered.
n
Since then, they have worked together for two months (and the counting), and Josh missed only one day of verification and missing a day did not bring the normal behavior of “all or nothing”!
n
This time may be different
n
We have all decided to change, and even when we are aware of ourselves …
n
We often bite more than we can chew:
n
n
Our objectives and hopes often exceed the reality that we are fallible, busy and complicated humans living an unpredictable life.
n
It’s good!
n
If we are aware of these things, if we can try differently … So even if it following The attempt does not work either, we can delete this strategy from the list of potential successful paths and try again.
n
That’s all life anyway: try, fail, adjust, restart.
